             Native speakers of English know the meaning and uses of idiomatic

             expressions naturally. But nonnative speakers have to memorize it and
             use as frequently as possible in everyday conversation.
             When you use idiomatic expressions, you can change the tense of it.
                    Many students burn the midnight oil to achieve an A+ in SEE.
                    [present tense]

                    Many students burnt midnight oil to achieve an A+ in SEE.
                    [past tense]
                    Many students will burn midnight oil to achieve an A+ in SEE.
