           7   Pronunciation and Spelling                               Time


          7.1.  Pronounce  the  following  words  after  your  teacher.  The  vowel

               sound is similar to the first two.

               mat  /mæt/       prank /præŋk/

               lanky    cat          man        battery       bad      crack          track
                rag       jacket     pack      pan            land     daffodil     sand


               See the pattern of spelling and vowel sound. In most of the words
              that have  ‘a + one or more consonant letters’, the ‘a’ is pronounced

              /æ/.


          7.2.  Pronounce the following words correctly.
