8.2 Let’s Play Spelling Contest

To the teacher:
• Make a list of twenty words students have already read/heard.
• Divide the whole class into five groups.

• Don’t pronounce the words yourself. Get a computer and a sound device to play the
word.
• Conduct the contest in reduction system; i.e. grant 100 points to each group at first
and reduce one point for a wrong spelling or no-attempt. Give the word to all the five

groups.
• Ask the students to write the spellings and their group code in a piece of paper and
submit.
• Make the rules for seating and time yourself.

• Invite the principal / vice principal to declare the winner and reward.
