7. Fun Time

Let’s play spelling contest

To the teacher:
a. Divide the whole class into five groups.
b. Select the group captain.
c. Make fifteen flash cards and write the phonetics of the given words one in each
card.

d. Show a card with the phonetically transcribed word and ask the first group to spell
it orally.
e. Award one mark for the correct spelling. If not spelt correctly, pass the word to the

next group.
f. Grant 30 seconds for the first group and 20 seconds for the rest.
g. Make more rules if required.
h. Invite the principal/vice principal to declare the winner and reward.
