The WCSI is dedicated to helping the current health care sys-
tem retain its most precious resource—competent, caring profes-
sional nurses—while preparing a new generation of health profession-
als within a broader model of Caring Science. The WCSI will help to
ensure caring and healing for the public, reduce nurse turnover, and
decrease costs to the system.
The WCSI intends to:
1. Create a professional network of Caring Science/Caritas
Practitioners, who bring profound caring-healing and Love back
into health care.

2. Provide a vehicle for the continuing development, implemen-
tation, and integration of Caring Science/Caritas clinical-
educational programs, modeled by the developer, Distinguished
Professor Jean Watson, PhD, RN, FAAN, and through a network
of professional, clinical, and academic colleagues.
3. Support and archive the continued development of Dr. Watson’s
lifetime of esteemed work in Caring Science as the foundation
for sustaining caring-healing for practitioners, patients, and the
public, thus facilitating transformation of nursing and the health
care system.
4. Honor “first” donor individuals and organizations at
WCSI Charter Sponsor Members with a privilege package
forthcoming.
