i. Thoracocentesis:

• to remove excess fluid.

• Send liquid for analysis. Either transudate / exudate

• If empyema: apart from drainage, treatment for infection is given.

• Because this condition will be hard - solidified and loculated fibrothorax.

Affects the expansion of the lungs, and requires surgical intervention
