8 Place bed in flat position and lower side rails on side
nearest to nurse
9 Position two to three nurses on the side toward which
patient will move
10 Assume positions for moving patient.
10.1 A nurse at head end supports patient's head and
shoulders
10.2 Second nurse supports patient’s trunk and hips
10.3 The third nurse supports patient's thigh and ankle
**if two nurses are available, one nurse supports patient's head and
shoulders and second nurse support the waist and the thighs.
