CHECKING
AN INJURED
OR ILL PERSON
efore you can give first aid care, you need to gather information that
will guide your next actions. Your first goal is to identify and care
B for any life-threatening conditions. If the person does not appear to
have any life-threatening conditions, you can check the person for other types
of injuries or conditions that may require care. The observations you make and
the information you gather will help you to better understand the nature of the
emergency and give appropriate, effective care.
