P. 5
Introduction
Trusting God seems like such a simple thing, but I have found it, at times, to
be challenging and not because God is unfaithful but, because I sometimes forget
that God is not like man. I am using myself as an example because I can only
speak for me, but I have a feeling you know just what I mean. Trusting God is
about relying on Him to do it (whatever “it” is for us), which often means we must
take our hands off the steering wheel and let Him drive. I don’t know about
anyone else but whenever I am not driving, I can be a bit of a backseat driver.
Please don’t get me wrong, I can trust them to get me from point A to point B but
if they are driving my car and swerve one time, I’m taking over – it’s that simple!
But you have to know that I have a thing for cars so, if I let you drive mine there
will be conditions – 1. I am riding with you. 2. Don’t scratch, dent, or otherwise
harm my child I mean vehicle. 3. No texting, talking, Periscoping, etc. while
driving (this is a rule I set for myself so if you can’t follow it, you shouldn’t be
driving anyone, anyway) and if you can follow those conditions (and any others I
can think of) I will trust you to drive my car. If you were asking me if you could
borrow my car, you would feel a little like I didn’t fully trust you right? And with
the conditions I listed you would be absolutely correct to assume that I don’t trust
you or as I like to say, I trust you with conditions but even still it sounds a lot like
distrust doesn’t it? And while this is a comical analogy, I hope that you can now
understand what I mean when I say trusting God at times can be challenging. We
tend to put conditions on God and how we will trust Him if He does this or that,
but God wants us to trust Him without condition. So when He tells you to do
something, you don’t question him, you simply believe. When God tells you that
He will provide, but you have yet to see the provision, can you still say you trust
