pounds of trash a day. The
United States makes 220
million tons of trash a day.
Can you believe that? That’s a
lot!
Having a lot of trash in the
world creates problems.
Burning garbage pollutes the
air. The air can be poisoned
by garbage. Trash seeps into
rivers, lakes and oceans.
Our country makes more
trash than other countries. We
need to do more to reduce,
reuse, and recycle.
