The Sword of Gilead & The Book of Angels

At the silent Amen under my breath, she
screamed loudly, shook her head violently, flayed
her arms and legs ferociously, and suddenly
            slumped to the ground.
I then walked over and saw that it was not
the old hag as I thought, but a beautiful young
woman. Seeing that she was at peace I quietly left
            with Patrick, my ministry colleague.
Later asked by priests what I had done
because they and the team did not understand
how, due to my silence that the demon left. I
explained that evil angels love a display and so
are not impressed with your crucifixes in hand
and do not obey ranting and raving as much as
they do authority, and so I did not need to speak
            aloud.
More to the point is the knowledge that
angels, good and evil, can throw thoughts into
your mind. By moving away and pretending to
leave, knowing that the demon could not know
what I was thinking, I deceived the demon into
thinking I was not a player and so prevented it
from throwing things at my mind. Most
importantly, I did not speak out my plan to
Patrick because my speech would have betrayed
            my plan to the demon.
