It has been noted that there are three modes of occurrences, 1) cross-bedded calcirudite-
calcarenites, 2) massive grainstones and 3) mm to cm-thick marl beds. The first two types are
very common in Maleri and Tiki formations, marl beds are rather sparse. The reverse is true
for the succession comprising Dharmaram and Lower Kota. Further it has been noted that in
several localities carbonate beds are closely associated with sulphate deposits. This is
especially true for the Lower Kota and Tiki formations.
A set of representative samples has been collated from the field. Their mineralogical
characters are presently being studied under petrographic microscope, in thin section.

Justification:
Salary: Payment for the services of field personnel. General: Expenditures towards
conducting geological fieldwork in central India for about 8 weeks and also for the
geochemical analysis of the samples in external laboratories. Capital: For procuring
instruments for field data collection (hammer, GPS, etc.), preparation (saw, lapping
equipment, etc.) and observation (special lights, magnifiers, etc.) of the rock samples.
