I
I tallest brick tower in the world. It is about 800 years old. We
was born in Delhi and have lived all my life
in this city. The amazing thing about Delhi
is that there is something to do for everyone
from all age groups. My earliest memories of
Delhi are of visiting the zoo with my mom and of
picnics at Lodi Garden with my play school. The
zoo is fantastic. There are tigers, elephants, giraffes,
lions and so many more animals. But my favourite
are the hippos because they are always up to funny
things! Now as I am older, I have also started
visiting some of the beautiful historical monuments
in the city. My most interesting visit has got to be
the one to Humayun’s Tomb, where I went as part
of a guided class. I remember learning about the
life of Humayun and how the tomb is said to be an
inspiration for building of the Taj Mahal. I saw the
steps on which Humayun fell and died, making his
son Akbar the King when he was only 13! I wonder
what I will be doing when I am 13! It’s actually
great that I learnt about this Humayun, especially as
our school is on a road named after him.
Now, I get to go to some cool places with my
dad. My dad has taken me to the Delhi Golf Club
for practice. It reminds me a bit of Lodi Garden
because of all the greenery and various monuments.
My dad also took me to Ferozeshah Kotla Cricket
Stadium for an IPL match between Delhi and Punjab.
Unfortunately, Delhi lost but it was really cool to see
cricket under the lights at night. Now that I have
learnt to cycle, I look forward to exploring more of
Delhi with my dad by accompanying him on his
Sunday morning bicycle rides. My only wish is that
Kartik Gupta, P3 D Delhi becomes a cleaner, greener and safer place to
live in - we all need to play our part for this.

elhi is the heart of India. It has so many
places worth visiting. My uncle got
married in July so we visited different
Dplaces for shopping. One day, my family
and I went by metro to Chandni Chowk. It was
my first experience of a metro ride. I was really
excited. Although it was crowded, the metro was
really clean and fast. I was scared to see so many
people at the metro station. Chandni Chowk was
a busy place too; full of traffic and people. I also
visited the beautiful Gurudawara Sheesh Ganj Sahib
there. While coming back, I was really tired but had
enjoyed my visit.

spent my holidays being a real ‘explorer’ by visiting lots of places
in Delhi with my friends. We went to Qutub Minar which is the
explored Chor Minar where it is said that the heads of thieves
Sakri Gumti and Bara Khambha Monument in Hauz Khas village. We
were cut and stuck out from holes. We also explored Chhoti Gumti,
visited Safdurjung’s Tomb and Humayun’s Tomb. Delhi has many
famous ancient monuments. I learnt that we have to protect these
monuments and take care to keep them clean. We must not damage
them by writing on their walls. All these have nice parks around
them. We ‘explorers’ had great fun playing hide and seek there! I also
travelled by the ‘rapid metro’ which was an exciting experience. We
visited the Nehru Planetarium and saw a show on the solar system.
We also saw Nehru Museum and learnt about freedom fighters like
Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Patel and Shaheed Bhagat
Singh. I learnt that Delhi is not just home for me but also for
important people like the Prime Minister of India and the President of
India. The Parliament House and the Supreme Court of India are also
in Delhi. Delhi is a unique city with both old and new structures.
I feel so proud that I live in Delhi. I very much enjoyed being an
‘explorer’.

y favourite place in the capital is the world famous
India Gate where my parents often take me for a picnic
and I enjoy camel rides. Recently, I also got to visit the
MRed Fort to learn about the history of Delhi during the
Mughal rule and we took a long walk inside. Another monument
with a majestic view is the Qutab Minar, which is a 73 m high
tower and looks like an old castle of fairies. The most fun part in
Delhi is the variety of museums. I visited the National Museum and
the Gandhi Smriti Museum and learnt a lot from each. I learnt that
Gandhi ji spent the last 144 days of his life at the Gandhi Smriti.
There is equal love and respect for all religions in our city. The most
beautiful religious places are also in Delhi. The city’s most amazing
part is the yummy food. Delhi serves the best street delicacies in
Chandni Chowk and my parents take me to the best restaurants in
Connaught Place. The above sums up my exploration of the beautiful
city Delhi that offers the most amazing experience of every kind.

visited many places in the holidays. First, I went to the Delhi

Zoo. It is spread over 176 acres and has variety of animals like
tigers, bears, giraffes, foxes, deer, lions, jaguars, hippopotamuses,
zebras to name a few. I saw these animals playing and resting
and it thrilled me a lot. I also visited the Children’s Park close to
India Gate on another day. I fully enjoyed the games there and also
liked the musical fountain. It was really amazing. Next, I went to
visit the Nehru Planetarium which is situated at Teen Murti House.
It gave me an opportunity to discover the solar system in a sky
