Vol#05 | Issue#04 | No.02 | April 2022
Dear Readers,
Jai Jinendra!!
Let me first wish you all “Happy Akshay Tritiya”.
There is a huge significance of Akshay Tritiya in
Jainism. In this era, the first Ahar daan (food
donation) of sugarcane juice was given by King
Shreyans to Rishabhdeva on this auspicious day
as depicted in a coin issued by the British Indian
Government in 1818. This started the tradition of
Ahar daan (charity in this era and is thus marked as a special day to
remember the Muniraj's charya (Monk's obligations) and Shravak's duty
(householder's obligations).
Friends, as you are all aware that ISJS's sole mission is to propagate the
eternal knowledge of Jain Tirthankaras with modern relevance. To advance
our ideology. We would request you all to take this opportunity to study the
5-week program on Jainism, a 3-week program on Teaching for peace in
rd
India, and the 3 Bhagwan Mahavir Prakrit Fellowship program details on
registration and enrollment requirements are given inside the newsletter.
Your enthusiasm for studying Jain philosophy will allow ISJS to continue with
its mission by further improving and enhancing these valuable programs.
Apart, from this to encourage our in-house research activities, inside this
newsletter we have mentioned our popular and most-read books.
In this issue, read an article by Ms. Pragya Jain in the speak-up section.
Here, in this article, she talks about the 'Prakrit Language' (The canonical
language of Jain scriptures) which is full of core values helping us in enriching
our lives.
Moreover, this newsletter will include frequent updates on Jain lectures and
other Jainism-related academic and non-academic events in India and
