Siamese suzerainty over the northern
Malay States (NMS) is about 1782.
The importance of the East India Trading
Company (EIC) requires them to recognize
the authority of Siam to the North Malay
States (NMS)
But EIC is not satisfied with the
strength of Thailand is farther south. At
that time, the Malay rulers often been
at odds with each other.
In 1822, Rama III had ascended the
throne in power in policy development.
After Thailand gained their power, NMS that
Kelantan and Perak sought the help of the EIC in
opposing Siamese forces.
By 1825, Perak had already anticipated that
Selangor may be under Siamese rules.
The threat to Selangor is becoming more
serious as it will bring about the possibility of a
tin mine port by the EIC
