The best way to determine your WHY is to take the time to
step away from your business. This type of thinking cannot be
accomplished while you are working on the shop floor, designing
your next project, or preparing a quote for a customer. You need
to get out of your shop and your office. A change of perspective
does wonders for the creative process.
Stepping away doesn’t have to be a sabbatical or even a vacation,
although those options would certainly be effective. It could
be attending one of our regional events or the IWF trade show.
At these kinds of events, you have opportunities to network
with other woodworkers and it tends to get your creative and
strategic juices flowing.
After these events are over, members often share how surprised
they are that other shops struggle with the same things as
they do. The CMA is not a match-making organization, but we
do create opportunities for you to connect with like-minded
professionals – the conversations you have with these kindred
spirits can help you find your WHY.
ONE SPECIES. ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.
