In each issue of 2018, we’re marking our 20th anniversary by checking back in with members
whose shops have been featured in PROfiles.

For the summer issue, we’re featuring an update from Adam Rose – Rose and his shop,
Creative Woodworking, in Sterling, Colorado, were featured in the spring 2009 issue.

Back in 2009, I had three employees, two of them part-time.
I had just purchased a CNC router and a new edge bander,
and changed from a PTP method to full nested manufacturing.
The economy was not great, so we were doing a lot of full
remodel work, including the construction, plumbing and
electrical portions of the job. We were staying busy that way,
                                                                and it was profitable.

By 2014, I had one full-time employee: Mark. Then he passed
away in his sleep, which was devastating both personally and
professionally. We had become good friends over the five years
he worked for me, and on the job, we had a very good rhythm
down as to how to remodel a kitchen. He handled everything
except the cabinets, while I built the cabinets and ran the

has not been replaced by any one person.

                                                                ADAPTING TO CHANGE
Since Mark passed away, I've haven't had a full-time employee.
I had a 3/4-time guy for a few months, but he moved back to
