Enrichment Activities
The school’s extra-curricular sport programme
currently includes table tennis, rugby, football,
netball and Rubicon Dance.
Other Clubs include: Sewing Club, Choir, Film Club,
Welsh Club (Urdd), French Club, Eco Club, Sign
Language Club and Maths Clubs.
We also run a Drama Club and participate in the
Shakespeare Schools Festival.

Educational Visits and Visitors
Educational visits play an important part in our
curriculum and staff arrange outings to
places of scientific, historical and
environmental interest related to their
cross-curricular topics.
Regular destinations include the National Museum
and Gallery of Wales, the Museum of Welsh Life at
St.Fagans, Caerphilly Mountain Ranch, Barry Island,
Techniquest, Rhondda Heritage Park and
the Roman remains in Caerleon.
Growing Through Learning

Annual residential visits are arranged for children
in Years 5 and 6. Pupils enjoy stays at, for
example, residential outdoor activity centres
such as Storey Arms in Brecon, Gilwern Centre in
Abergavenny or Treginnis Farm in Pembrokeshire,
which is part of the Farms for City Children
organisation.
We welcome many visitors to our school to
support the curriculum and extend educational
opportunities. Zoo Lab, with its variety of live
insects and animals, regularly visits our Early
Years pupils. The Happy Puzzle Company provide
exciting mathematical learning experiences for all
the children and we organise dance workshops
and visits from professional musicians to inspire
and engage our learners.
Community Involvement
The school enjoys a wide variety of links with the
local community and businesses such as
St Mellons Library, Roath Fire Station, the Cardiff
Rotary Club and Willowbrook House Care Home.
The school choir regularly visits Willowbrook
House to sing a variety of songs for the residents
