Fine Arts Camp: Ages 7-12

Location: Noble Center (in Lakeview Park)
Fees-R/NR: $127/$137 per week.
Camp hours: 8:30 am-3:30 pm
Extended Care: 7:00-8:30 am, 3:30-5:30 pm (included in fee)
Let your imagination run free with ‘hands on’ activities in the fine arts designed to challenge your creative skills. Students will be separat-
ed into age appropriate groups and skill levels. Individual expression encouraged. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from
the program site and to some special event sites. All field trips will use City Link buses. Lunch, drinks and snacks are provided. Camp fee
includes all supplies, field trips, and swimming once a week. Dress for a mess. Camps meet Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-3:30 pm.
Extended care and special trip admissions are included in your fee.

Week 1 77860 Art 101 – Let’s get to the basics! Learn what everything is and how to use it – color wheel, paints, mediums.
May 30-June 2 This week will prepare you for the rest of your summer art! No Camp May 29th
Week 2 77853 Find Your Medium - You will experiment with a variety of mediums every day and choose the medium you
June 5-9 wish to focus on to create your main project.
Week 3 77854 Nature’s Art - Begin the week with a guided hike where you’ll discover the color, symmetry, texture and pat-
June 12-16 terns in nature. We will study line, shape, space, texture, light and shade. You will keep a sketch journal of
your own nature drawings which you will turn into art projects.
Week 4 77855 Artist’s Palette - Young painters will learn to use tempera, watercolor and acrylic paints on paper and canvas
June 19-23 to create a still-life painting, a figurative painting, and the painting of your wildest dreams! We’ll cover color
mixing, brush use, and combining materials to make one of a kind works.
Week 5 77856 Sculpting by Design - Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork created by shaping or combining materials.
June 26-30 Materials may be worked by removal such as carving; or they may be assembled such as by gluing, or
hardened such as by firing. Our sculpture lessons include forming carving, collaging, gluing and more and
make use of materials such as clay, wood, soap, paper, tape, beans, foam, metal, stones and more.
Week 6 77857 Installation Art – Installation art is a specific type of sculpture designed to transform the perception of a
July 3-7 space. We will spend the week changing a space, creating a whole new view! This may take us to the depths
of the ocean, deep in the forest, or wherever the campers choose! No Camp July 4th
Week 7 77858 Trash to Treasure – We know that anything can be turned in to a work of art! Come get your hands dirty and
July 10-14 turn ordinary items that would be thrown out in to beautiful creations.
Week 8 77859 World Color –Celebrate diversity with a week of multicultural art projects from many different countries
July 17-21 including Africa, Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Mexico.
Week 9 77861 European Master’s Studio – Michelangelo, da Vinci, van Gogh, Monet…the list goes on! Channel your inner
July 24-28 famous European artist and recreate a famous masterpiece! We will study the greats, learn a little art history,
follow the same techniques as our famous painters, and paint as they did!
Week 10 77862 American Master’s Studio – As we did in the week before, this week we’re looking at artists closer to home –
July 31-Aug 4 O’Keeffe, Pollock, Warhol, Rothko. We will find our inner famous American artist and recreate a masterpiece!
We will study the greats, learn a little art history, follow the same techniques as our famous painters, and
paint as they did!
Week 11 77863 Ancient Art – Learn about art before paper and canvas. This week will take you back to the beginning and
Aug 7-11 teach about cave drawings, hieroglyphics, ancient sculptures, and Greek Art. This unique form of art will not
only sharpen your art skills, but teach history at the same time!
