IF ONLY WE COULD
CLONE THEM...
Reggie, Marshall, Moonlight & Pavlov are recent Chris & Wendy We are failed
adoptees by their loving foster parents— families with Reggie foster carers &
who have taken these needy dogs into their homes
proud of it!
to care for them temporarily until a permanent
home could be found and lost their hearts! Is there
any better way to adopt a new best friend?
Fostering a dog gives a lost, often frightened
dog, many of whom are stressed in a busy kennel
environment, time to let their true natures shine
through. The dogs who come from the pound are
assessed only from what we can see from their
reaction with other dogs/Kennel Hands/Volunteers
and the noise and busy environment of a kennel.
For the timid, shy dogs, the frail elderly dogs or
the nervous and somewhat fearful dogs, what you
see is not always the real nature of the dog. That
is where foster care is so important—being in a
loving home environment makes the dog feel safe,
relaxed and begin to trust. The difference in the
dog is sometimes absolutely amazing…..
Also by living in a foster home we learn so much
more about the dog’s individual personality—
whether they are housetrained, how they adapt
with children and other dogs ( and even cats and other small animals ) on a day to day basis. We learn their likes/
dislikes and what sort of home would suit their unique personalities. And yes, along the way, many foster parents
find that the dog is so much a part of their family that they can never part with them!
To all the failed foster parents out there, give yourselves a pat on the back and your new family member
a really big hug. At DoggieRescue we simply cannot find enough of VERY special people like YOU!!!!
We first fostered Reggie mid-April. The DR website and Monika
were super helpful in matching Reggie with us (apartment &
busy, full time work lifestyle) and he has definitely changed our
lives for the better. In less than 3 weeks (and someone else
querying about adopting him) we decided we loved him so much
we couldn't bear to let him go! Reggie has such a beautiful
affectionate nature and is energetic despite being an old boy. He
loves his walks and being the official mascot of Mum's hockey
team. All it takes is a little love, care and patience and your efforts
will be rewarded ten fold. If you have the time, space and means
to foster or adopt a rescue dog, we wholeheartedly recommend
it - you will not regret it. Reggie's parents - Chris and Wendy
