WHERE AM I NOW?
GOTCHA DAY 21ST JUNE 2014
HEINZ O’SHEA
“ I used to be a driver for DoggieRescue and it was
me who collected Heinz from the pound in January
2013. He was so scared he was rigid with fear and
had to be carried, he would not move.” Dale
Hello Readers,
To continue Heinz’s story...Over the following weeks,
with excellent care from the kennel hands, he came out
of his shell, but when Heinz was put in with other dogs
he couldn't get on with them and had to be penned on
his own. He was a favorite with everyone, I think they felt
sorry for him and gave him extra attention. The kennel
hands tried on numerous occasions to get him to go for
walks but he would not go. After many attempts I was
able to take him out but always had to carry him up the
drive and out onto the road where he would take a few
steps and then belly flop, and that was that. Months later
we finally made it up the hill — a real mile stone!
I was continually told by the girls at DoggieRescue that
I would have to adopt Heinz but at the time I had an old
sick dog (ex DR doggie Toby) and Heinz would have
been too much for him. After Toby passed it was pretty
much a foregone conclusion that I would take Heinz and
so in June 2014 he came home with me.
From day one he got on very well with our other little guy
(ex DR dog Brown Bear, a 12yr Mini Foxy x). They play
and wrestle until Bear has had enough and then he tells
Heinz off with a growl and Heinz knows to back off. He
still didn't want to walk around the streets in Sydney but
in September we moved to a Lifestyle Estate on a golf
course in the Hunter where the dogs are allowed to walk
on the course and Heinz hasn't looked back. He charges
off and loves to run but also walks well on his lead.
“ Heinz is super affectionate and wants to be near you all Heinz is a totally different dog these days. His tail was
the time. Adopting him was the best thing we did and we always down between his legs but now its up all the time.
love him to bits. He is a special part of our family. ” Dale He’s very friendly towards everyone he meets on his
walks and wants them to pat him. He's a big sook, thinks
he's a lap dog and likes nothing better than lying on top
of me on the lounge with his head tucked into my neck.
ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING STORY...
