RED GIANTS
At Sossusvlei in the southern part
of the Namib Desert, a dry clay
pan called a vlei is surrounded
by giant red sand dunes that are
among the highest in the world.
They are continually reshaped by
the wind from all directions, and
so are known as star dunes.
