2.2 The Compasses
Although the compasses
are used for drawing
circles, they are also used
to draw arcs which are
also useful for dividing up distances. For example,
given a line, the mid-point can be determined by using
the compasses. This is how you do it.
1. Draw a horizontal line of 8 cm.
2. Open up your compasses so the separation is 5
cm.
3. Place the compasses point at one end of your
line and draw an arc which passes through the
line.
