Who is the inventor of the
fountain pen?
Whoever asks about who invented the fountain pen must
first determine what type of fountain pen is, there is the
ballpoint pen and there is the fountain pen. Each of these
two types was invented by two different scientists, and
the question of who invented the ballpoint pen and
fountain one will be answered as follows:
Who is the inventor of the fountain pen?
American scientist and inventor Lewis Addison Waterman, born in 1837 AD, invented
the fountain pen, while he was trying to sign a very important work contract for him as
a sales employee in New York City in the year 1883 AD,
When he was about to sign the contract, the pen did not write, and worse still, the ink was
spilled over the work contract and destroyed it. Since that time, the scientist Waterman
has been eager to invent a fountain pen, and he used the principle of scientific research
and the use of capillarity in manufacturing the pen. Waterman used air to induce the
ink to flow continuously and keep the ink in place without spilling. He obtained a patent
invention registered on his name in 1884AD. At the beginning of the year 1899 AD, a
factory was opened in Montreal to manufacture fountain pen in all forms of designs,
and Waterman died in 1901, after gaining many profits from the sale of the fountain pen.

Who is the inventor of the ballpoint pen?
The inventor journalist László Bíró, born in Hungary in 1899AD, invented the first ballpoint
pen in 1938 as Bíró noticed that the ink that is used in printing newspaper dries quickly,
so he decided to invent a ballpoint pen based on the same principle. Bíró installed a small
rotating ball on the tip of the pen, when the pen moves over the paper, the ball rotates and
leaves the ink on the paper and dries quickly, but this idea has been owned by John Loud
since 1888, but he did not make use of it commercially. Bíró obtained the patent invention
for this idea instead of John Loud, and his pen was used by the British Air Force in World
War II. He also registered a patent invention for him in many European countries, and Bíró
died in 1985.
The story of the invention of the ballpoint pen
The story of the invention of the ballpoint pen began when inventors noticed that the ink
reserve in the hollow pipe of the feather used for writing was depleting rapidly. Also,
carrying ink cans or inkwells from one place to another to write was burdening the
writers. In addition to the fact that the use of the quill in writing is difficult for many people, The inventor journalist László Bíró
and only those who are skillful can use it proficiently, so the inventors have been creating
a man-made fountain pen with ready ink inside, and there is no need to dip the ballpoint
pen into the ink can every time to write. Fountain pens were designed in different shapes
by many inventors, but they were not in the current form of the ballpoint pen, and some
failed to invent fountain pens that are practical and easy to use and the first one who
invented fountain pen to be suitable for writing was the scientist Waterman then
followed by the scientist Bíró.
