Lidocaine (Lignocaine) - Na channel
blocker class IB
• Not Used orally Due to extensive first pass effect
Mechanism :

2) Blocks Na+ channels → ↓ conduction in atria & ventricle

4) Opens K+ channels→Accelerates repolarization ( action potential duration
& RP).
Uess:
ventricular dysrhythmias that is associated with surgery o with Digoxin
toxicity
Side efectsw:
Central nervous system (CNS) effects: include nystagmus (early indicator of
toxicity), drowsiness, slurred speech, paraesthesia, agitation, confusion,
and convulsions, which often limit the duration of continuous infusions.
• Precautions and interaction
1) Not used in patient with impaired hepatic function
2) Lidocaine used as local anesthetics (with epinephrine
