We actually met at a mountain
bike race. A mutual friend
introduced us, and I thought
she was cool. We’d go for bike
rides together and do cross-
country skiing.
Who motivates whom more?
I’d say she motivates me more
in training. I always think
about how focused she is with
her training and how dialed in
she is. We’re not competitive at
home, either—we just support
and encourage each other.
How did you train for
this specific race? DREAM

you never know what’s going
to come at you in the race.
What about mental training?
I do a lot of visualization and
self-talk to get me ready for
the race. I’ll also write down
my goals and how I’m going to
achieve them. After a race, I’ll
go over it and see what went
well, what didn’t, and what I
can learn from and apply to
my next race.
You and Lindsey are both
competing in the new
Spartan Race series, where
the points winner of three
races takes home $1 million.
