METAMORPHOSIS OF FROGS
Frogs undergo complete metamorphosis. Eggs
(spawn) are laid in water and hatch into young
tadpoles, which have a tail and external gills Premaxilla SKELETON OF A FROG
but no legs. As the tadpoles grow, the gills
disappear, back legs develop, then front Sphenethmoid Nasal bone
legs, and the tail shrinks. Eventually bone
the tail disappears, resulting in a Maxilla Frontoparietal bone
young adult frog.
