SCHWEIZER LAUFHUND

Height range This breed, also known as the Swiss Hound, is a keen-nosed Forehead lacks
19–23 in (47–59 cm) tracker that moves easily across Alpine terrain. It is bred to sniff out any furrow
or wrinkle
Weight range the track of hare, fox, and roe deer with its long muzzle. There are
33–44 lb (15–20 kg)
four distinct varieties—Bernese, Lucerne, Schwyz Laufhunds,
Life span 12 years and the Bruno Jura (p.138)—each named after a Swiss
Origin Switzerland canton and identified by its coat colors. (A further White coat
variety, the Thurgovia, has died out.) The fine with orange
patches
sculpted head and well-proportioned body
lends the Schweizer Laufhund an air of nobility.
At home, they are relaxed and quite docile.
