6 Massachusetts State House
The cornerstone of the Massachusetts State House
was laid in 1795 by Paul Revere and Samuel
Adams. Completed in 1798, the Charles Bulfinch-
designed center of state government served as a
model for the US Capitol building in Washington
and as an inspiration for many other state capitols.
Later additions were made, but the original building . Nurses Hall
