Say it in Japanese
You bumped into a neighbor on your way to work. Greet her with the following
phrases.
1. It’s a beautiful day, isn’t it? Are you taking a walk?
2. It’s cold today, isn’t it? Are you going out?

3. It’s raining today again, isn’t it? It’s cold, isn’t it?
4. It was hot yesterday, but it’s cool today, isn’t it? See you later.
5. Do you suppose it is going to snow today? I can’t wait to see snow!

EXERCISE 6

Role Play
1. At the ticket counter, ask how much the tour #10 is for:
1) one adult;
2) two adults and one child;
3) a student and a senior citizen.

2. At a bank, ask a teller what the dollar to yen exchange rate is today (how
many yen a dollar is equivalent to).
3. At an information desk, mention that you want to do sightseeing in this area
and ask what places would be good to visit.
4. You are checking the budget for a trip. Ask a travel agent approximately how
much this trip will amount to.
5. Discuss with a friend:

1) what the best Japanese food is;
2) what the most interesting video game is;
3) who the coolest person is;
4) when he is busiest at work/school.

At a Nomi-kai (After-work drinking)

Ms. Suzuki, the project chief, invites everyone to go out for drinks after work.
Suzuki: Why don’t we go drink after this?
