2 Having bifold doors on a dresser means that
it can be left open when in use, without open doors
getting in the way. The built-in oven is a combination
microwave that’s put to good use in warmer weather
when the Aga is switched off. The other dresser, in
the dining area, stores both decorative glassware and
logs for the fire. The idea of painting the interior of the
dressers in Paint & Paper Library’s Temple shade came
to Claire in the middle of the night. ‘I was trying to think
of a way to add a bit of softness and realised bringing

in a touch of pink would work,’ she says.
3 The blank black screen of a television isn’t the
most attractive decorative feature and can feel like

lift at the touch of a button. ‘It’s strategically placed down, out of sight,
so that I can see it while I am busy at the kitchen sink, when not in use
but guests don’t need to know it’s there,’ says Claire.
