will make mincemeat of your motorboat. The most
fearsome monster ever to swim the seas, it ruled
the Jurassic oceans about 147 million years ago.
2 Megalodon
More than twice as long as
the great white shark—its closest
living relative—Megalodon was
a massive 40 ft (12 m) long. It could
open its toothy jaws 7 ft (2 m) Diatryma 3
wide—enough to gobble up
a Jet Skier in a single gulp. A giant flightless bird that
lived 56–33 million years ago,
Diatryma used its clawed feet
to bring down small mammals.
It then finished them off with
a bone-crushing bite to
the back of the neck from its
