Must See

                                     WHALE WATCHING
More than 20 species of whale are found
in British Columbia’s coastal waters, and
around 22,000 gray whales migrate annually
from their feeding grounds in the Arctic
Ocean to breed off the coast of Mexico. The
whales tend to stay near to the coast and
are often close enough to Vancouver Island’s
west shore to be seen from land. From March
to August there are daily whale-watching
trips from Tofino, Ucluelet, and Bamfield.

along the coast, this trail is now rated as one
of the world’s best walking routes. Taking
approximately seven days or more, it passes
       through stunning natural scenery, including
       moss-draped rainforests, roaring waterfalls
rushing down onto the shores of pebble
beaches, and deep, rocky gullies hidden by
groves of towering cedar trees. Hikers
       embarking on this once-in-a-lifetime
adventure must be experienced and well
prepared. The trail is only open between
May and September and requires a permit
       and reservations.
