Cultural tip Like most of Europe, Italy
uses the continental system of sizes. Italian
dress sizes usually range from 36 (US 6)
through to 48 (US 14) and shoe sizes from
37 (US 5 ½) to 46 (US 12). For men’s
shirts, a size 41 is a 16-inch collar, 43
is a 17-inch collar, and 45 is an
18-inch collar.
