hidden behind the altar
for 500 years.
Two Figures
Masolino’s work tends to be more
formal, less naturalistic and less
animated than that of Masaccio.
Before the Proconsul
Filippino Lippi was called in to complete the cycle of frescoes in
1480. He added this emotional scene showing the Proconsul
sentencing St Peter to death.
