Cultural tip Spain uses the common European currency, the euro, which is divided
into 100 centimos. Spanish-speaking countries in Central and South America all have
their own currencies. Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, and Mexico all call their
currency the peso, which is divided into 100 centavos.
