04 Vintage fabrics from
unexpected sources can
be used to create striking
Star Wars garments.
One particular style of bounding
overlaps with another recent
Disney theme park fan tradition:
‘dapper style.’ Usually, this means
dressing up in more sophisticated
or formal styles, especially
vintage, for special fan-organized
events at the resorts. Imagine
looking your best in clothes
from the 1920s-1950s, and then
coordinating the color schemes you
bound as your favorite character.
That’s bounding dapper.
Natalie Benavides has assembled
some great outfits, from a Dapper
Rey to a Rockabilly Jyn Erso and a
Pin-up Kylo Ren: “I love to work my
love of the franchise into various
fun looks that show the different
characters I admire. My big project
over the last two years has been
creating dapper versions of all
the leading ladies, and one of the
villains. The thing I love about all
these looks is that they can be worn
in everyday life but also crossover
for fun costume events.”
Bounding has moved beyond
its Disney park roots—indeed,
it’s come on in leaps and (ahem)
bounds. Now you can find it at any
place where fans might gather, such
as this April’s Star Wars Celebration
in Chicago.

culture is sportswear, especially for
