We look at the latest advancements
                  in technology and their application
                    on current and future vehicles

Sporting a super-capacitor setup (instead of a conventional lithium-ion battery), SUPERCAR,

the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is a first-of-its-kind mild-hybrid supercar. However,
the Sant’Agata Bolognese automaker believes this technology has much more SUPER CAPACITOR
potential. In conjunction with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),
the Raging Bull has now issued a second patent for an advanced material which
will underpin a new generation of super-capacitors. The goal: to improve energy density by 100% in relation to current tech. Synthesised by MIT’s faculty
of chemistry and Lamborghini’s department of concept development, the advanced composite is based on the “metal-organic frameworks” design, which

the Italian firm says makes it the ideal candidate for producing electrodes for high-performance super-capacitors of the future because it increases the
specific surface area. Compared with a battery of the same mass, the fast-charging super-capacitor arrangement weighs up to three times less and, more

importantly, is three times as powerful.
