Getting There
Four good interstate highways lace the area:
I-95 runs south and north on the eastern side
of Virginia; I-81 runs south and north in western
Virginia; I-66 heads west from Washington;
and I-270 goes toward Frederick. Trains depart
from Union Station to most of the main towns,
such as Baltimore, Alexandria, Richmond,
Williamsburg, and Harpers Ferry, which is also
served by the MARC (see p215). Virginia Railway
Express goes from Union Station to Alexandria
and Fredericksburg. Greyhound buses also travel
to most towns. Boats moored in the Chesapeake Bay area
