1 A Walk through Miramar
Miramar is the most elegant part of Havana – as it was before
the Revolution, when the city’s richest inhabitants lived here.
Life in this quarter revolves around the Avenida 5, a broad,
tree-lined avenue flanked by splendid early 20th-century
villas that are now home to embassies and institutions.
Administratively, Miramar belongs to the municipality of
Playa, as does the adjacent Cubanacán quarter, where
many foreign embassies are located. Looking down Avenida 5, the main avenue
