     Flowering Bulbs
     Flowers such as gladioli,
     lilies, narcissi, hyacinths, irises,
     crocuses and dahlias are mainly
     grown in the Bollenstreek.
     By far the most important,
     though, is the tulip, which
     originally came from Turkey
     and was cultivated by Carolus
Clusius in 1593 for the first time
     in the Netherlands.
