Epic Theme Parks
Disneyland® Paris (p174), just outside the
French capital, is the most visited theme
park in Europe. All the family favourites
are here, from parades featuring beloved
characters such as Mickey Mouse and
Cinderella, to some truly hair-raising rides,
including the famous Star Wars
Hyperspace Mountain and the Rock ‘n’
Roller Coaster. It’s actually two parks in
one: Disneyland (based on the US theme
parks) and Disney Studios (dedicated to
cinema and TV), so thrill-seekers will be
spoiled for choice. Further south,
Futuroscope (p404), on the out skirts of
Poitiers, is a cinematography-themed park
that packs in the wow factor for techno-
philes of all ages with its vision of the
future and rides. Many attrac tions change
every year, so you'll need no excuse to keep
coming back for more.

Rainy-Day Favourites
If the sun doesn’t shine, you’ll
still find plenty to entertain
the whole family. Here, there
are scores of child-friendly
museums, including Paris’s
enormous Cité des Enfants at
the Cité des Sciences et de
l’Industrie (p157) or Le Petit
Musée Fantastique de Guignol
in Lyon (p370). You could also
explore the spooky catacombs
in Paris, or head to a perfor-
mance by Cirque du Soleil.
