Glitz and Glamour
The French Riviera has long
been a byword for glamour.
The villas along the stunning
southern coast are now the
homes of billionaires and film
stars, while the marinas at
St-Tropez (p520) and Cannes
(p521) are full of super yachts
– espe cially during the Cannes
film festival. Away from the
fray, idyllic coves are ideal for
dropping anchor and enjoying
a bellini onboard.

FRANCE FOR
BEACH LIFE
With more than 2,000 miles of coastline, France has enough sandy shores
for everyone. Take your pick, from glamorous beaches – perfect for celeb-
spotting – on the French Riviera, to wild, dune-backed strands on the islands
of Ré or Oléron. You’ll even find beaches in Paris once the summer heats up.
The Great Escape
Shake off the crowds in magical Brittany, which
has scores of breathtakingly unspoiled beaches.
The Côte de Granit Rose (p270) gets its name
from the pink-tinged cliffs that tumble to the
sea. A walking path, the Sentier des Douaniers, Ploumana'h Lighthouse,
links the villages of Ploumanac’h and Perros- guarding the rocky
Guirec, with a host of coves to explore en route. coastline of Brittany
