                                                                     Farmers have a really important

                                                                      job. Without them we would have
                                                                      no food to eat. It’s a lot of hard

                                                                         work, but it can be fun too!



















                                                                                        – I woke up at 4am
                                                                             FYI today! Crazy, right?
                                                                            But you have to be up that
                                                                          early when you live and work on
                                                                         a farm. This weekend, I’m staying

                                                                           on my friend Summer’s family
                                                                           farm to learn what it’s like to be
                                                                           a farmer!



                                                                     So why did I have to get up at 4am?
                                                                     Well, farm work starts very early.
                                                                     Summer’s family grows lettuce, other
                                                                    greens and carrots on their farm. The

                                                                   greens get sold to restaurants that
                                                                  use them in the food they serve ... that
                                                                 same day! So the greens have to be

                                                                as fresh as can be. That means picking
                                                              them first thing in the morning!
