                SAVED BUT CAGED
                    Aceh Province, Indonesia
              A snare cost this six-month-
               old Sumatran tiger cub his
                 right front leg, which had
              to be amputated because it
                was so badly mangled. He
                was trapped for four days
                  before being rescued by
             anti-poaching forest patrols.
Sadly, he will have to spend
the rest of his life in captivity.

          POWER GRAB
          Ranthambore NP,
          Rajasthan, India
          Female ‘Noor’ brings down
          an adult sambar. Tigers need
to be within 20m of their prey
          before launching an attack and
          rely on explosive acceleration
to catch it. Photo Andy Rouse
