Alligators and crocodiles
VISION
Alligators have vertical pupils,
much like those of a cat, which
allow them to take in more
visual information when lighting
conditions are poor and spot
prey in the dead of night.
JAW
The broad and powerful jaws
of an alligator are perfectly
adapted for feeding on
armoured prey, including
crustaceans and even turtles.
SENSE
Like crocodiles, alligators have
sensory receptors along their
jaws, which allow them to pick
up on changes in the movement
of the water, honing in on
nearby prey.
