Currency
The Polish unit of currency is the 10 złoty
złoty, a term that literally means
golden and which dates back
to the Middle Ages, when gold
pieces were used. Złoty is most
commonly abbreviated to zł,
although you will see the
abbreviation PLN in banks
and on your credit or debit
card statement. One złoty equals
100 groszy, abbreviated to gr.

Banknotes
Banknotes come in denominations of
10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 zł. Each bank
note bears the portrait of a Polish king.

5 zł 2 zł 1 zł 50 gr
20 gr 10 gr 5 gr 2 gr
Coins
Polish coins come in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10,
20, 50 gr and 1, 2, 5 zł. They all feature on one side
1 gr a crowned eagle, the emblem of Poland.
