               Sea of Galilee

Known as the Kinneret in Hebrew, Israel’s largest freshwater lake
is 13 miles (21 km) long, 8 miles (13 km) wide, and about 720 ft
(220 m) below sea level. The largest town on the lakeshore is
Tiberias, famed for its hot springs and tombs of illustrious rabbis.
Along the perimeter are a number of important Jewish and early
Christian sites associated with Jesus. In between are beaches,
protected wetlands, water parks, bike paths, and hiking trails.
