Noriega basks in the adulation of his supporters.
Originally a CIA asset in Central America, Noriega
slowly gathered absolute power in Panama and
enriched himself with drug money. In 1988, he
was indicted for his role in drug trafficking by
a US court, but it would take a US invasion
in 1989 before he would see trial and
democracy was restored.
