“LET GEORGE DO IT!”
Music hall sensation George Formby strums his ukulele for
the men of the British Expeditionary Force. Famous for
cheeky tunes like ‘When I’m Cleaning Windows’, Formby’s
French tour in spring 1940 was just the first part of his
morale-raising mission. In July he appeared in the
musical comedy Let George Do It! in which he
parachutes into the Nuremberg Rally to sock
Hitler — surely every Brit’s fantasy!
